Skyehigh's MKC Bonaparte - Party Boy

Party Boy’s story is one of resilience, love, and the unbreakable bond between a dog and the people who believed in him. Born at Skyehigh on December 21, 2006, to Mac-Ken-Char’s Twin Oaks Napoleon and Mac-Ken-Char’s Dixie O’Skyehigh, Party Boy stood out from the start. His beautiful disposition, true terrier temperament, and undeniable flair for the show ring made it clear he was something extraordinary. Lindy and Celso recognized his potential and entrusted Alison Alexander to showcase Party Boy in Canada, where he dazzled everyone, winning six All-Breed Best in Shows in a single year. His rise to prominence seemed unstoppable. But in early 2011, just days before the Westminster Dog Show—a dream event for Celso Mollo—fate took a cruel turn. After being treated for a kennel-wide case of Coccidia, Party Boy began to show alarming symptoms during the journey to New York. A small lesion on his paw rapidly worsened, and by the time they reached Manhattan, his body was breaking out in sores. Fearing the worst, Lindy and Celso rushed him to an emergency vet. What followed was every dog owner’s nightmare. Party Boy was diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening reaction to his medication, triggering Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS). The condition ravaged his body, causing excruciating sores and exposing cartilage in some areas. With a grim prognosis, Party Boy’s survival seemed uncertain. Devastated but determined, Lindy and Celso returned home and vowed to do everything in their power to save him. They worked around the clock, taking shifts to ensure he received his medication and nourishment, even feeding him through syringes when his ulcerated mouth made eating unbearable. Despite their unwavering efforts, their hope began to waver—until Party Boy lifted his head and showed a flicker of his indomitable spirit. Slowly, he began to recover. His strength returned, and although his body bore the scars of his ordeal, his resilience shone through. Months passed, and as Celso lovingly restored Party Boy’s coat, it became clear that the little dog with the big heart wasn’t just surviving—he was thriving. One day, as Lindy and Celso packed for a dog show, Party Boy made it clear he wasn’t ready to retire. His excitement was undeniable, and they realized he still had the spirit of a champion. Together, they decided to let him return to the ring at the very event that had eluded him—the 2012 Westminster Kennel Club Show. In a storybook moment, Party Boy triumphed, winning Best of Breed and becoming the first Skyehigh Westie to achieve such a feat at a major show. He didn’t stop there. Piloted by Jaime Glodek, Party Boy became the #1 Westie in the United States, solidifying his place in history. After retiring in 2013, Party Boy left an indelible mark on Skyehigh, producing generations of champions and becoming the foundation of the kennel’s success. When he passed away in 2022, his legacy was undeniable. For Lindy and Celso, Party Boy wasn’t just a dog—he was the heart of Skyehigh. His story represents everything they stand for: perseverance, love, and the unyielding belief that even in the darkest times, hope can shine through. Skyehigh’s history is forever divided into “before and after Party Boy,” and his memory will live on in every champion who carries his legacy forward.
